Heilongjiang (the Black Dragon River) is bordering Russia at the north of the district.<br /></strong><br />Together with the districts Jilin and Liaoning it is also known as the region Manchuria.<br /><br />Some famous and beautiful other cities and sites at Heilongjiang are Daqing; Qiqihar, with in the region the biggest wetland reserve of China; Heihe, on the banks of the Heilongjiang river, Yichun, Hegang, Jiamusi, Shuangyashan, Qitaihe, Jixi, Mudanjiang. </p><p>The beautiful Wudalianchi Lakes are a series of five lakes formed between 1719 and 1721 when volcanic eruption shaped one section of a tributary of the Amur into five interconnected lakes.
